What Is a Tattoo? The term “tattoo” originates from 17th–18th century Dutch innkeepers calling out:“Doe den tap toe!”—meaning “Turn off the taps!”
This signaled soldiers to return to their barracks as evening music was played.
Over time, the word tattoo evolved to describe large-scale ceremonial performances featuring massed military bands, precision drill teams, and cultural pageantry.About the Estes Park International TattooUnder the direction of an international team from the United States, Canada, Great Britain, and Europe, the Estes Park International Tattoo brings a remarkable array of talent to Colorado.
